Can AI Fix My Website Problem? An Honest Answer

AI help is good at explanations and simple edits. It cannot see your screen, log in, or test your real site. A fair split, and the hybrid most owners need.

It is a fair question, and I am not going to dodge it just because fixing websites is my job. AI tools have gotten genuinely good, and for some website problems they are the right first move. For others, they will burn your evening and leave the site worse off. Here is the honest split, from somebody who uses these tools every day and also gets called when they fail.

What AI Help Is Genuinely Good At

Start with the real strengths, because they are real:

  • Explaining errors. Paste in an error message and you will usually get a plain English explanation of what it means and the likely causes. That alone saves people a lot of fear.
  • Drafting code for simple, contained changes. A snippet to center something, hide something, or add a small feature. If the change is small and self contained, AI drafts are often fine.
  • Content edits. Rewriting a paragraph, drafting a page, tightening your wording. Low risk, easy to undo, and the tools are good at it.
  • First round troubleshooting. A sensible checklist of things to check before you call anyone. Sometimes the third item on the list is your whole problem.

If your issue fits in that list, use the tool and save your money. I mean that.

Where It Falls Down

Now the other side. AI help cannot see your screen. It cannot log in to your site, your hosting, or your accounts, so it is working from your description of the problem, and descriptions leave out the one detail that matters. It cannot test the real site after a change, so it cannot actually know the change worked. It can only tell you it should have.

It also cannot take responsibility. When an AI suggested fix breaks your checkout, there is no one to call, no one who remembers what was done, and no one whose name is on the repair. And on tangled, generated code, it is often guessing about its own earlier work, which is one of the limits built into AI website tools generally.

The pattern I see is consistent. The tool handles the problems that are simple enough to describe in a sentence. The moment the problem is visual, tangled, tied to your specific accounts, or costing you money while it sits there, the tool starts costing more time than it saves. That is the story behind most of the sites in an AI built my website, too.

The Hybrid Most Owners Actually Need

Here is what actually works for most small business owners, and it is not either or. Use AI for what it is good at. Draft your content with it. Get errors explained. Handle the tiny, contained changes yourself if you enjoy that.

Then keep a human for the rest. Somebody who can get on a screen share, see your actual site, log in where you point them, test the fix on the live thing, and stand behind it. That is the entire idea behind my website repair help. You watch the whole repair, you learn what happened, and the fix comes with a person attached to it, not a chat window you have to re-explain everything to next time.

A Simple Rule of Thumb

If you can describe the whole problem in one sentence and undo the fix in one click, let the AI take it. If the problem involves your checkout, your forms, your login, your hosting, or code nobody remembers writing, skip the experiment and get a person on it. Your site is your storefront. It deserves the same rule you would use for your actual storefront. You would not let a confident stranger rewire it based on a description over the phone.

If you are not sure which side of that line your problem is on, book a live session and share your screen with me. In the first few minutes I will tell you straight whether it is a quick fix, an AI sized job you can do yourself, or something I should just handle while you watch.

Rather have it fixed today?

This is the kind of problem I fix live on a screen share, while you watch. A standard fix is $99 for the first hour, same-day emergency help is $299 for the first hour, and every fix carries a 30-day warranty.
